The Quality of Sleep and Job Stress of Police Officers Doing Shift Work: The Mediating Effect of Health-promoting Behavior

Abstract

|
Objective : The purpose of this study was to check the quality of the sleep of police officers who work at shifts and to identify mediating effects of health promoting behaviors base on the relationship between quality of sleep and job stress.
Methods : A survey was conducted on the quality of sleep, job stress, and health promoting behaviors of 175 police officers working in shifts in G-Metropolitan City and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 23.0 program.
Results : As the quality of sleep decreased, the health promoting behaviors is decreased and the job stress is increased. Moreover, when the health promoting behaviors is increased. the job stress is decreased.
Conclusions : A variety of studies are needed through the measurement of other variables and repeated work based on the present study by providing the basics of the intervention program for improving the quality of sleep and managing job stress in police officers.
